Job Summary:
– To ensure that the bank complies with all financial accounting and governance requirements.
– To ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal control policies of the Bank.
– To oversee the Accounts Payable function and all related vendor payments.

Job Responsibilities:
– To lead the financial accounting team to deliver effective and efficient processes, developing and embedding controls that safeguard our assets and manage risk appropriately.
– To oversee financial transaction processing and reconciliations within the bank, ensuring that robust controls are in operation and workloads are managed effectively
– To regularly evaluate the operation of processes and controls and discuss with budget holders and/or senior management as necessary, making use of KPIs to monitor compliance
– To lead on compliance with the Financial Procedures Manual, ensuring that all procedures and policies are business focused and communicated effectively.
– To collaborate across departments to ensure new income generation initiatives incorporate sound financial controls and efficient processes whilst meeting business need.
– To develop and maintain a continuous improvement culture, focusing on efficient ways of working for both current and new processes.
– To lead the monthly closing process and coordinate with all concerned stakeholders.
– To lead on technical accounting compliance requirements, developing knowledge throughout the team and with other departments where appropriate to ensure compliance.
– To provide effective management and leadership, and conduct performance and development reviews of staff managed, to ensure motivated performance, high quality service delivery
and achievement of the business plan.
– Ensure all activities are carried out according to bank’s policies, procedures, and standards.
– Participate in other related initiatives and projects or other duties as assigned. Ensure that all vendor related payments are done according to the bank’s policies and procedures.
– Ensure that all POs issued are within the approved budget.

Minimum Experience & Qualification:
– Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/ Finance
– CPA/ CFAB certification/ Accounting certification is recommended
– Minimum 10+ years of relevant accounting experience with general banking and systems knowledge of which minimum 5+ years of managerial experience.

– Good knowledge of banking operations and services.
